Munster have produced one of their great performances in victory against Glasgow: a comprehensive victory made all the more impressive given that they played almost two-thirds of the game with 14 men, following a red card for Keith Earls.

It was an astonishing occasion at Thomond, with emotion flooding down the steep Limerick stands that were full more than an hour before kick-off.

Among the most emotional Munster players was Simon Zebo, who shed a tear for his departed coach during the minutes' silence before the game.

To his eternal credit, Zebo, like the rest of his teammates, channeled his emotions well. Zebo crossed for Munster's third try, and did very well to avoid putting a foot in touch before wriggling over the line.

The awarding of the try was delayed, pending the approval of the TMO, but when it was awarded, Zebo dedicated it to Axel.

Stuart Barnes said on commentary that you can talk all you like about tactics and spreadsheets, but Munster were inspired today.

He is right, of course, but they had to combine it with discipline, intelligence, and control. Zebo's performance reflected exactly what Munster needed.
