The annual War Child Tag Rugby Tournament takes place on July 9th in Clanna Gael Fontenoy GAA Club, Co. Dublin, to raise awareness and much needed funds for War Child Ireland.

The War Child Tag Rugby event has become one of the biggest one-day tag rugby events in Ireland in recent years, and 100% of funds raised will go directly to those who need it most - children afflicted with war during this period of global instability.

On the 4th of July last year, the event raised over €5,000 for War Child Ireland. This year, it's back and better than ever, with Spin 1038 amongst the guests and a number of prizes (including free food at Boojum, for the love of God!) to be won on the day.

Naturally, some scintillating rugby will also be played, with Irish Tag Rugby Association Rules applying across the board:

Recommended

All teams must be mixed, with seven playing on the field at all times - three of which are female. Teams can include a maximum of 12 players per squad. Females will also be awarded double points for tries scored - as is always the case with ITRA rules. Warning: Donning a wig and pulling a Gavin Henson on your legs won't cut it, lads. You will be found out.

A spokesperson for the event said:

We are so excited for the 9th of July. This year is shaping up to be one of a kind with the Spin1038 spinnies and many more confirmed for our tag rugby event. We will have exciting rugby, good food, cold drinks and amazing prizes on the day so be sure to get your team in early to avoid disappointment. We can't wait to see you there!

About The Charity

Football Manager players will be familiar with the associated charity War Child, which works toward a world in which no child's life is torn apart by armed conflict. The organisation is committed to supporting children in war-torn areas to both overcome their experiences and have a real chance at a better future.

Children and young people have the right to grow up free from fear and violence, to develop
to their full potential and contribute to a peaceful future – for themselves and for their
communities. They do not belong in war.

You can keep up to date with all the latest regarding the event on the War Child Tag Rugby Facebook page, and a limited number of tickets are available on a first-come, first-served basis at eventbrite.ie. A reminder that you need just seven players (and a maximum of 12) to enter a team.

To sponsor the event or find more information, email [email protected] or call (01) 716 8910. And remember, 100% of the proceeds go directly to the kids who need it most.
