Footage has emerged of Sale Sharks' Director of Rugby, Steve Diamond, involved in a heated conversation with a journalist, following his side's win over Gloucester.

Diamond is reported to have confronted Sam Peters, a journalist with The Independent, over a column he wrote back in September in which he criticised the Sharks boss's methods. Multiple reports state that Diamond first questioned Peters over the fact he didn't ask any questions in the post-match press conference.

He is then reported to have asked Peters to continue the discussion outside of the media room, where he alledgedly grabbed the journalist's dictaphone. In a video posted by The Telegraph, the pair can be seen having an angry exchange.

Writing in the wake of the confrontation, Sam Peters said "For the record, I never laid a finger on him other than to retrieve my property."

No formal complaint has been lodged yet but Diamond could find himself under investigation, with a spokesperson for the RFU confirming to the BBC that they would "look into it" should such a complaint be made.
