The Closing moment of yesterday enthralling Leinster Schools Cup contest between Pres Bray and Newbrigde, saw the youngsters from Bray trailing by one point following a try two minutes into stoppage time by Newbridge. With time all, but gone Pres were awarded a penalty 43 metres away from the Newbridge line. With no option, but to have a shot at goal up stepped Pres Fullback, Diarmuid Masterson, for a seemingly impossible kick to win the match.

The ball crept over the bar and Pres were victorious in the most unlikely of circumstance. Or so it seemed until Setanta showed replays that suggested the ball dipped under the bar as opposed to going over it.

With the benefit of slow motion it certainly seems like the ball just fell short, but that will be scant compensation for Newbridge, who in the last three minutes thought they had lost the game ,then won it after scoring a last gasp try, only to lose it again by the thinnest of margins.  Sports as the cliche goes is a funny old game.
