Paul O'Connell has plenty of experience when it comes to playing in red.

14 years with Munster. Three Lions tours.

So the transition to the slightly different shade of red worn by his new side Toulon should not be too tough.

O'Connell was unveiled as a Toulon player at a press conference today.

The former Ireland captain signed a two-year deal with the Top 14 side during the summer, reportedly worth €1 million a season.

However, due to the injury sustained just before half-time in Ireland's World Cup win against France, the 36-year-old is not expected to lineout until April.

That's a incredible impact player to introduce for the latter stages of the Champions Cup and the Top 14 run-in.

O'Connell lamented the injury and the obstacle it creates to him making an impression.

I wish I was going over injury free on the back of a good World Cup. It’s always going to be a challenge at 36 to make an impression. Now it’s going to be even more difficult. The challenge for me now is to go over and be as good as I can.

Given the high level at which he is still playing and what he has achieved in his career, we doubt he'll have to work too hard to win over his new teammates.
