Queensland lost today in the final match of the 2016 State of Origin but still won the series 2-1.

Late in the game Queensland took the lead when Darius Boyd took advantage of some indecision in the New South Wales defence to touch down a bouncing ball. It gave Queensland a 14-12 lead and it also looked like it would win them the game.

Jonathan Thurston stepped up to add the extra points. The stand-off shanked an easily makeable kick, though he can also be considered unlucky. The ball hit the left post, crossbar and the right post but the touch judges would not get to raise their flags.

The game also ended in drama as New South Wales prevented the series sweep. Michael Jennings would cross the whitewash to win the game 18-14 for his team.

The celebrations of the try featured a moment which would leave prop Aaron Woods a little red faced.
