Brian O'Driscoll settled into his new job as a pundit for BT Sport on Monday and if the initial reaction was anything to go by, he did very well indeed. The former Ireland captain's first appearance on Rugby Tonight took a while to get going as he waited around while everyone else talked about the Guinness Premiership. But when he was finally introduced, O'Driscoll was very warmly welcomed by presenter Craig Doyle and the rest of the assembled audience.

After that there was some chatting about the upcoming European rugby season and O'Driscoll posed with a caricature of himself as a leprechaun, which was something of a low point.

And while the general punditry stuff was all well and good, perhaps the most interesting segment of O'Driscoll's debut was his first hand insight into the defensive role of centres.

When asked if his retirement had made him unfit, O'Driscoll had earlier said that his 'inner fat person hasn't burst out' and, if he keeps up this kind of hands on punditry, there's no reason why that has to change.
