Rugby League Player Celebrates Too Early, Injures Himself, Looks Like A Tit

Salford took on Hull KR in Rugby League's Challenge Cup on Friday night, and as the game was live on Sky Sports, there's that extra bonus of scoring a try on live TV to motivate the players.

This may have been a factor in the delight of Salford's Ryan Lannon as he waved to the crowd and pointed to the badge in celebration as he was about to score a try to extend his side's lead in the second half... Only he hadn't scored the try yet.

The Sky commentators could only laugh, and they really did laugh, as Lannon was chased down from behind and stopped short of the try line. It was a penalty and Hull KR lost a man for holding up the ball in the tackle, but Lannon will have felt worse than anyone as he looked like a tit on television and may have pulled his hamstring in the process.

Instant karma.

Never celebrate a try early, there's no benefit, and you can only be widely mocked if you do mess it up like you deserve to do.

It's the worst case of premature showboating since Willie Le Roux let Leinster off the hook in the European Champions Cup over in union back in April, and it's clear that everybody loves a good laugh at someone who tries to look cool and fails spectacularly.

A big thanks to Kate McGrath on Twitter for the tip.
