Watch: Ken Doherty Had A Nightmare On Live TV During Shot Demonstration
By Gary Connaughton

It's mad to think that it's almost 25 years since Ken Doherty won his one and only World Championship. The Dubliner's victory over Stephen Hendry has lived long in the memory, with Doherty's own two final defeats in the years that followed the only times an Irishman has come close to repeating the feat since then.

It has been a number of years since Doherty has competed consistently at the top level. He has instead mostly been taking part in senior events, most recently at the UK Seniors.

Apart from that, we often see him pop up during television coverage of the sport's biggest events. That includes during this week's Masters, where the 52-year old has been part of the BBC's punditry team.

As someone who won the biggest competitions in snooker, Doherty brings a huge amount of insight to the viewers at home. That doesn't mean that things have gone perfectly, however.

Part of his current role sees Doherty take to the table and give some examples of shots you might encounter in that day's matches. Yesterday saw him give an example of what the ideal snooker break should be, although it didn't exactly go to plan.

After explaining exactly what he would be trying to do, the former world champion ended completely mishitting the cue ball, which eventually ended up making its way into one of the top corner pockets.

The watching crowd certainly got plenty of enjoyment out of it.

To be fair, the man himself took it very well.

The Masters will continue over the rest of the week, with some of the sport's biggest names taking place in the quarter-finals over the next couple of days before the final takes place on Sunday.

Ken Doherty will be hoping that the rest of his shot demonstrations go a little bit better than this one.
