When it comes to the very best players in snooker at the moment, Mark Allen was certainly be up there.

The Antrim native has gone through some difficult periods in his career over the last few years, although he has certainly rediscovered his form in recent times. The 37-year old is now at a career high of third place in the world rankings, having won the World Grand Prix earlier this year.

Despite this, it's fair to say that he is not among the most popular players on tour for fans. It's not clear why this is the case, but Allen is still not seen to be one of the biggest names in the game right now.

In fact, the lack of promotion he has been receiving has now caused some friction between him and the authorities.

Mark Allen makes complaint to World Snooker over poster

Ahead of the British Open this week, Mark Allen was not happy after seeing that he had been excluded from some promotional material for the tournament despite having reached the final in 2022.

World Snooker released a poster for the event in recent days, and despite quite a few players making an appearance on it, there was no sign of the world no. 3. While the social media post has since been deleted, it's something he has taken personally.

Allen would confirm that he has made an official complaint to the governing body over the lack of promotion he receives, viewing this poster as the final straw (h/t Belfast Live):

I have made an official complaint to World Snooker.

I just think it’s not the first time. Some of the decisions they have made over the years are not right.

It’s not just me that I am talking about. There are other incidents.

Obviously, the complaint I have made is about me and my situation and some of the scenarios that have arisen in the last few years.

I will keep that in-house because I want to try and keep it official.

I believe I am one that has always been open and honest with you guys in the media.

I am always forthcoming with World Snooker, always doing my media duties, always going above and beyond to do little clips for them and for the TV crews.

I just don’t think I get what I deserve back. I don’t think that’s much to ask. No.1 from last season, three titles, UK Championship winner.

I feel I deserve a bit more credit than what I am currently getting.

He certainly is not happy with World Snooker over this matter.

As it turned out, Mark Allen would be eliminated in the first round of the tournament after losing 4-0 to Kyren Wilson.
