Mark Williams beat Liam Highfield 6-5 in the fourth round of the UK Championship on Thursday evening.

In the eighth frame, with world number 106 Highfield leading 4-3, there was a remarkable exchange between the two players.

With the yellow and blue close to the top left pocket, Highfield knocked the final red on the table close to their position.

What resulted was a cagey 21-shot exchange between the two which lasted four minutes and only ended when Highfield fouled by potting the yellow.

Williams would win the frame to draw level at 4-4 and would trail again before eventually claiming victory.

Williams will play Ronnie O'Sullivan in the quarter-final.
