As one of, if not the, greatest snooker player of all time, Ronnie O'Sullivan lives a hectic enough life. If he's not practising for the next major, there's exhibitions to be done or tour events to play in.

It was reported that after exiting the 2016 World Championships in the second round to Barry Hawkins, O'Sullivan trashed his dressing room.

A five time World Champion, O'Sullivan opened up about the pressures that come with being a top level player to the BBC's Victoria Derbyshire:

I didn't intentionally smash it up. Not many people know but I was suffering. I'd had a massive workload, probably too much. I'd worked myself to the bone and the pressure of the tournament was a lot.

Straight after that match, I was driven straight down to London I was in hospital for four or five days. I was physically exhausted and on a low.

I think it was [a breakdown]. They helped me,I had a little bit of medication and it was touch and go whether I was going to play in the second round match. One of the doctors gave me medication to slow my head down. It was nothing to do with anything else.

I do love a breakdown, it sort of spurs me on. I'm so used to dragging myself up from a low, I have done it all my life. Once I get to the bottom, I know I'm going to fly up again. I have been so low and come out of it so I don't worry so much. It's almost a chance to respond.

You can see O'Sullivan talking about the situation to Derbyshire here.

It's an admirable admission from the Rocket, who reached the quarter final of this year's Championship before losing to Ding Junhui.
