In what will go down as one of the most entertaining finals in Crucible history, Judd Trump outperformed John Higgins to win his first World Championship title this evening.
The English man beat his opponent, former champion John Higgins, 18-9 to capture the title in style at the famous Sheffield theatre.
After the first day of final action in tournament, the 29-year-old had already one hand on the prize - leading 12-5 - and he simply never loosened his grip on the coveted prize. With this evening's victory, he also becomes a triple-crown winner after a sensational season that also saw him claim both the UK Championship and the Masters.
Even in defeat, a magnanimous Higgins was able to recognise how impressive his opponent was saying, "I was the lucky one - I didn't have to pay for a ticket because, honestly, it was just awesome.

After a record-breaking final that saw him become the first man in history to earn over £1million in a season, Trump reflected on his achievements.
I can't put it into words - I've worked so hard for this.
It was an amazing final. I think the standard from the very first session, from the very first ball...John is such a great player. I always seem to raise my game and I still don't beat him. Every time I play him I play amazing and he beats me every time. It's probably the best I've ever played in a major final.
It's an incredible achievement for me from where I was at the start of the season.
