John Tomic, father and coach of young Australian star Bernard Tomic, has been charged with assaulting his training partner Thomas Drouet, last week outside a Madrid hotel.

Drouet told The Herald Sun of Australia that John Tomic head-butted him after an argument escalated over his payment. Drouet was photographed outside a Madrid courtroom in a neck brace with his nose heavily bandaged.

Tomic's father is no stranger to controversy after ordering his son to leave the court during a match in 2009 after what he believed to be 'poor officiating'.

Last year Tomic asked an umpire if it was possible to remove his father from the stands after complaining that his father was 'annoying' him.
