Andy Murray may have won 7-5, 6-3, 4-6, 6-1 but all eyes were still on Nick Kyrgios during their first round match at the US Open last night. Kyrgios' reputation as the bad boy of tennis was given a healthy kickstart with his 'banged your girlfriend' sledging of Stan Wawrinka last month.
That ensured that the Aussie's return to the court against Murray would be the most high profile match-up of the opening rounds of the final grand slam of the the year. So it proved and Kyrgios gave the fans plenty to talk about. He was unhappy with the positioning of the lights, he was unhappy with the late-arriving fans and yet he still managed to pull out some sensational shots.
Just to prove that he was unaffected by the media attention surrounding the match, Kyrgios also decided to take a quick nap in between sets. At least you can't say he's boring.
