Student Nurses To Be Paid During Covid-19 Emergency
By Balls Team Updated

Student nurses and midwives will be paid for working during the Covid-19 emergency.

In a statement issued on Thursday evening, Minister for Health Simon Harris said that student nurses and midwives will be offered contracts as healthcare assistants. The majority who are on placements are usually not paid for work.

"I want to thank our student nurses and midwives for the brilliant work they are doing in this difficult time," said the minister.

We need all hands on deck through this challenging period

This is an offer and not an obligation.

But I know so many of our student nurses want to play their role as we navigate our way through these difficult times.

Our healthcare professionals have shown immense leadership and I will do everything I can to support them.

A number of TDs had called during the week for student nurses to be for their time on the frontline during the pandemic.
