The 2023 competition is upon us, with this year's first semi-final taking place in Liverpool later tonight. That means you're probably looking for the best Eurovision bets to consider for this week.

While Ireland's hopes of winning the competition are all but non-existent, there is plenty to keep us interested over the three nights of action.

When it comes to having a bet, there is some value to be had in Eurovision bets. With value bets taken into account, here are some of the best of them.

The best Eurovision bets for 2023

Sweden to win - 10/11

Let's start with an obvious one.

Sweden are the big favourites to win this year's competition, being placed just below even odds to top the leaderboard on Saturday night.

It's not difficult to see why, with this song having all the hallmark of recent Eurovision winners. The staging is excellent, as is the song and vocal performance.

If the performer looks familiar to you, that is probably down to her previous pedigree in the competition. Loreen won the competition back in 2012 with her song Euphoria, one of the most memorable winners of the 21st century. This effort has a very similar vibe.

Finland seem to be the other contender, although it's difficult to see it beating out this effort from their neighbours.

Should Sweden be crowed winners, they will match Ireland's record tally of seven Eurovision wins.

UK to finish in the top ten - 11/4

The UK's Eurovision record over the last couple of decades is questionable to say the least, although it has improved in recent years. They came second last year, giving them the right to host this year's edition due to the war in Ukraine.

This year's entry is not as good, although it looks like a good bet to finish in the top ten. It is on trend with current chart hits, while host nations are also often given a bit of a bump in the voting after putting on a good show.

11/4 represents plenty of value.

Serbia to finish as the top Balkan country - 6/4

This should come down to a straight battle between Slovenia and Serbia, and while the Slovenians are slightly shorted odds in the betting, we would go with Luke Black and Samo Mi Se Spava.

It is among the more unique songs in this year's competition and should perform well in the tele voting. In contrast, Slovenia's number could get lost among the slew of pop songs on show in Liverpool.

It is also worth noting that Serbia also have a much better track record in the competition over the last decade.

San Marino to qualify from semi-final 2 - 7/1

Every year, one or two songs unexpectedly qualify for the final. That could be San Marino in 2023.

Their song is catchy and has somewhat of an 80s feel, with similar songs performing to a decent level during recent competitions. At 7/1 and with ten of 15 countries qualifying from Thursday's semi-final, it is worth a punt.

France to finish as the top 'Big Five' country - 8/11

This will be a shootout between France, Italy, and Spain, with France the safest bet.

It is a distinctly French song and is currently viewed as the third favourite to win the competition.

Italy to finish in the top five - 2/1

Ever since returning to the competition in 2011, Italy have been one of the most consistent performers in Eurovision. They have finished in the top ten eight times during that run, coming in the top five on five occasions.

Their song this year is another strong effort, one that is similar to other Italian products that have performed so well. You could put an each way bet on them to win at 50/1 or more, with most bookmakers paying out four places.

If you want to get the extra insurance of the extra place, which we would advise, 2/1 are decent odds.

Netherland to finish in the top ten - 10/1

This is an outside bet to make the top ten, but it offers good value at 10/1.

The Netherlands have recorded three top ten finishes in the last decade, including winning the competition in 2019 with Duncan Laurence. This is one of their best efforts during that span and in our opinion is undervalued in the markets.

With those odds, you can't really go wrong.
