Things are still very strange at the moment.
The normalcy of our past lives seems so distant, it makes you wonder if it ever happened at all. Meeting with friends, enjoying the outdoors, freedom of movement, a crisp refreshment on a summer's day, all we have for the time-being are the memories.
Well, CALM are here to give us a much-needed kick up the arse going into this weekend.
On Friday evening, the charity are hosting the 'CALM Lock-In', where a cavalcade of musicians, comedians and celebrities will be entertaining you for the comfort of your home.
The extravaganza will go from 5pm to midnight on Friday evening, a whopping seven hours of varied entertainment.
The lock-in will include a pub quiz featuring Chris & Kem of Love Island fame (and if the phrase 'Love Island' makes you gag, we ensure you that these lads are actually alright). Furthermore, there will be stand-up comedy from the likes of Ed Gamble and Philip Wang, live music from the outstanding Arlo Parks and Declan McKenna to name a few. The night will be rounded off by DJ Steves of Kurupt FM, making it truly feel like a Friday night of old.
CALM, or Campaign Against Living Miserably, is a leading movement against suicide, with a particularly focus on it being the biggest killer in men aged between 18-45.
CALM have organised the lock-in in order to help their efforts in combatting suicide, particularly through their helpline, which is available from 5pm-midnight every day of the year.
Since the beginning of the lockdown, CALM have seen a 37% jump in people reaching out to them. With the lock-in, CALM are aiming to allow people to chill out and have a laugh or dance amidst the unknown, but also to help the amazing work they already do through fundraising.
