It's not all bad this lockdown.

There aren't many things that are worse than being forced to stay indoors during this pandemic. While the measures are of course necessary, many of us now have some sort of cabin fever setting in.

There is only one thing that could have made it worse, and that would be being forced to sit through Love Island every night for what seems like six months. Luckily that won't be happening.

Kevin Lygo, ITV's Director of Television, has revealed that the summer edition of the show has now been cancelled.

We have tried every which way to make Love Island this summer but logistically it's just not possible to produce it in a way that safeguards the wellbeing of everyone involved and that for us is the priority.

In normal circumstances we would be preparing very soon to travel out to the location in Mallorca to get the villa ready but clearly that’s now out of the question.

We are very sorry for fans of the show but making it safely is our prime concern and Love Island will be back stronger than ever in 2021.

We're heartbroken. Now if only we could add a bit of sport to the mix...
