While the sporting world is starting to return to some level of normality, the same can't be said for all aspects of society, especially dating.

Granted, hardcore GAA heads might be saying that there's no time for romance when it's championship season, but if there are any single lads out there that play GAA, First Dates Ireland are looking to hear from you.

During a recent interview with RTÉ, First Dates' maître d Mateo Saina said that the show are currently looking for applicants for the new season. However, as per the norm, more women than men have applied.

"I think the lads are a little scared of embarrassing themselves. I don’t know what it is, but we are always looking for more men and we always will be," Mateo says.

Ok, so how does GAA fit into all this?

Well, in a survey undertaken by the new female applicants for First Dates Ireland, Normal People star Paul Mescal was voted as the most desirable date.

"He is the man now I suppose so he is desirable so we would need the GAA crew to apply," said the charming maître d.

To be clear, the show are looking for any fellas to apply, even if they don't like GAA. However, if you're a GAA player/fanatic, it's very likely that you might tick a few more boxes.

Given the impact of COVID, the show will also be restructuring its format in order to comply with social distancing guidelines. First Dates Ireland producers have confirmed that daters will not be allowed to kiss, touch or hug due to social distancing requirements.

For anyone that's interested in applying, you can do so here.
