Game of Thrones teased us a little more this week with another episode that was devoid of any white walker battles, but next week we are absolutely, positively going to see a fight ... we hope.
While the latest offering was the perfect example of why we shouldn't pass much remarks of the teaser previews HBO releases each week - given the episode two teaser made it look like the whole hour was going to be battle heavy - we are refusing to learn our lesson and have already read far too much into the one for episode three.
It's a teaser that does not have much in the way of dialogue but one poignant line comes from Daenerys, when she panically tells Jon "The dead are already here."
While this could be a simple warning that the battle is imminent, it also gives oxygen to a theory that would mean the leaders of Winterfell have made an absolute balls of everything. In the latest episode we learn that the women and children of Winterfell have been safely hidden away from the battle, in the crypts beneath the castle. But who is in the crypts with them?
It's a bloody tomb, Goddammit! How has it not occured to anyone that it may not be a good idea to seek refuge from an army that can raise the dead in a dungeon that is full of dead people!? It is not a massive stretch to suggest that Daenerys' exclamation is her telling Jon that his Stark ancestors have been awoken by the Night King and are now running through everyone in the castle. While this would indicate a very dark turn for the show it's definitely not something we can dismiss from the realms of possibility.
Sure, in more recent seasons the show has morphed into a more normalised style where the worst case scenario doesn't unfold but if this was season one or two of GoT we would absolutely expect a basement of women and children to be turned into zombies without any warning.
It is also possible that the producers have thrown in this line simply to torment all the conspiracy theorists out there but if the Game of Thrones crypts theory does materialise then don't say we didn't warn you!
