New TV series Dublin Murders begins this week, with the first two episodes airing on BBC on Monday and Tuesday night, while a RTÉ will premiere the series with a double-bill on Wednesday night.

The first episode's airing on BBC was met with a hugely positive reaction from the public and here's hoping the rest of the season can live up to the hype. Whether you watched the show on the BBC or you're waiting to see it on RTÉ later this week, there's no doubt that your head will be wrecked trying to remember where you recognise members of the Dublin Murders cast from.

So to help you out, we've put together some info on their best known work.

Killian Scott and Tom Vaughan-Lawlor

Let's start with the obvious duo. Scott and Vaughan-Lawlor are of course synonymous with their time playing Love/Hate's Tommy and Nidge.

Scott plays the central role in Dublin Murders as the troubled detective Rob Reilly, or 'Riley', as those across the water are choosing to incorrectly spell it. Meanwhile the motives of  Vaughan-Lawlor's character, Frank, are yet to be revealed but judging by the first episode, he's creepy AF.

Sarah Greene

Cork actress Sarah Greene has made a serious name for herself both on screen and on stage, with her performances in the West End and Broadway productions of The Cripple of Inishmaan earning her Tony Award and Laurence Olivier Award nominations.

Non-theatre goers probably know her best for her role as Hecate Poole in Penny Dreadful or her part in the 2016 mini-series Rebellion, where she played May Lacey. Greene has been in a plethora of Irish movies as well, most notably Black 47 Dublin Old School and Noble.

Conleth Hill

It would be a lot easier to recognise Conleth Hill if he'd kept his shaved head. The Antrim native is of course best known for playing the Master of Whisperers, Varys, in Game of Thrones.

You will have seen him with a full head of hair before though if you watched Suits, where he starred as Edward Darby for a brief period. Hill has an incredible theatre CV, winning two Laurence Olivier Awards for his performances in Stones in his Pockets and The Producers.

Peter McDonald

Many will fondly remember Peter McDonald as the dad from Moone Boy but he'll always be Tomo from Paths to Freedom to us. The talented actor has shone in comedic roles in recent years but his back catalogue proves he has a serious side to him too and its being brilliantly exemplified in Dublin Murders.

Eugene O'Hare

Another man with a strong theatre background, fans of The Fall will recognise Eugene O'Hare for his role as Aaron Monroe.

The Vikings Collective

There have been that many people in Vikings, it's amazing that one of us haven't been cast in it yet. If you're recognising a character in Dublin Murders and they're not any of the above then it's probably because they've been in Vikings.

Leah McNamara, who plays Aud in Vikings, stars as Rosalind Devlin in Dublin Murders. Her Vikings co-star, Moe Dunford pops up in episode one of Dublin Murders as well, as Sam O'Neill. Meanwhile, the actress who plays the Devlin's mother, Kathy Monahan, will be appearing in season six of Vikings when it airs in December.
