If you're looking for something to watch on Netflix that's right in that "Good Jesus, I need to switch my brain off from all the news!" sweet spot, then look no further than Hot Rod.

Released in 2007, Hot Rod received many a bad review and boy did it flop at the box office but don't let that fool you; this is no dud of a movie. It's funny, it's ridiculous and it's a more than acceptable way of passing 90 minutes.

That's exactly why it has grown into a cult classic in the 13 years since it was released. There is just so much to love about this flick...

Its Premise

Andy Samberg plays Rod Kimble, a young man who wants to follow in the footsteps of his late father by becoming a renowned stuntman. Queue some death-defying scenes. Pelease observe:

It has Ian McShane

Yes, that's right Deadwood and Lovejoy's Golden Globe winner, Ian McShane. Now stick that in your cooked goose and smoke it!

Not to mention the rest of the incredible support cast

Who else have they? Well let's see, how about Academy Award winner, Sissy Spacek? How about Samberg's The Lonely Island partner, Jorma Taccone?

You want some more? They've got more. There's Bill Hader, there's Danny McBride, Isla Fisher and friggin' Will Arnett. And they all LIKE TO PARTY!

It has some bangin' tunes

Here's a create don't contaminate challenge for you: go about your daily life but have the soundtrack to Hot Rod playing in your ears throughout the whole day. It will make everything 700 times more dramatic. Making your boiled eggs in the morning will now feel like you're about to fight the entire Ottoman and Roman Empires at once.

It gave birth to "cool beans"

Not really sure what's going on here but I like it!

The safe word is hhhhwhhhiskey

"The safety word did not help!"

It had not one but two incredible endings

First of all, there was the big jump...

And then we had the big fight. The fight to end all fights. Rumour has it that this scene inspired WWE to create the AJ Styles vs Undertaker boneyard match at this year's Wrestlemania.

A showdown for the ages.

It had some really deep meaning under all the madness

Hot Rod has so many underlying themes. It's about father figures in young men's lives. It's how about respect between father and son, it's about the fragility of hero worship and it's about embracing your own individu ... what am I saying, it's about Andy Samberg crashing into shit in hilarious fashion. Go watch it!
