The death last week of Queen Elizabeth has, somewhat understandably, led to a period of national mourning in the UK.

The British public have been encouraged to mourn the death of the Queen, with many activities being postponed as a "mark of respect".

Some of the displays of affection for the late Queen, however, have been downright ridiculous.

1. No parking your bikes in Norwich

2. No condoms from the Wetherspoon dispenser

3. Kids' ride halted in service station

4. No Champions League anthem in Liverpool

In fairness, the vast majority of the crowd at Anfield observed the minute's silence impeccably. Still, it was an incredibly strange feeling to see a massive Champions League game against Ajax kick-off without hearing the iconic tournament theme music (especially as it is based on the music used during royal coronations...)

5. Football games postponed unnecessarily

Football took a break last week in the immediate aftermath of the Queen's death. At a professional level, it seemed unnecessary - especially in the midst of an unusually crowded season - while the decision to halt children's and grassroots games seemed even more so.

All Vue cinemas will cancel their scheduled film screenings on Monday, but they will show the Queen's funeral live.

Mourners will not be permitted to buy snacks or drinks (no, seriously).
