The pantheon of bad Irish accents in film and television has become a long and fabled one over the years, with many a Hollywood star attempting to portray themselves as somebody from this part of the world. More often than not, the results are disastrous.

There have been countless examples down through the years.

The likes of Tom Cruis (Far and Away), Julia Roberts (Michael Collins), and Gerard Butler (P.S. I Love You) have received plenty of flack for their attempts at pulling off the accent. Emily Blunt was the latest name added to the list after her appearance in the god awful Wild Mountain Thyme.

Another famous actor has now taken his life into his own hands by taking on the Irish accent.

Kit Harrington is starring in Prime Video's original release Modern Love, with the Game of Thrones star playing an Irish man who falls on love after meeting a stranger on a train travelling across the country.

As each episode of this series revolves around a different story, we are only treated to Harington's accent for one episode.

Kit Harington hasn't reached that level, but he's certainly no Tom Cruise. That's the least we would have asked for.
