The Marvel Cinematic Universe is one sprawling, 23-film (and counting) saga. One of the most fun film adventures you can take is working your way through all of them - but it can be hard to know what order to watch them in. That's why we're here to give you the lowdown on how to watch the Marvel movies in chronological order.

The Marvel Movies In Chronological Order

Captain America: The First Avenger (2011)


Cast: Chris Evans, Hugo Weaving, Hayley Atwell, Sebastian Stan


Steve Rogers, a rejected military soldier, transforms into Captain America after taking a dose of a "Super-Soldier serum". But being Captain America comes at a price as he attempts to take down a war monger and a terrorist organization.

Captain Marvel (2019)

Captain America: Civil War (2016)

Black Widow (coming July 7 2021)

This movie hasn't released yet, but we know it will fit between the events of Civil War and Infinity War in the Marvel chronology.

A film about Natasha Romanoff in her quests between the films Civil War and Infinity War.

Avengers: Infinity War (2018)


Cast: Robert Downey Jr, Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Evans


The Avengers and their allies must be willing to sacrifice all in an attempt to defeat the powerful Thanos before his blitz of devastation and ruin puts an end to the universe.

Avengers: Endgame (2019)


Cast: Robert Downey Jr, Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth


After the devastating events of Infinity War, the universe is in ruins. With the help of remaining allies, the Avengers assemble once more in order to reverse Thanos' actions and restore balance to the universe.

Spider-Man: Far From Home (2019)


Cast: Tom Holland, Samuel L Jackson, Jake Gyllenhaal, Zendaya


Following the events of Endgame, Spider-Man must step up to take on new threats in a world that has changed forever.

There's also several Marvel TV shows that fit into the in-universe chronological order, but very few of them directly link in with the events of the films. The two most recent Disney+ releases, WandaVision and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, both fit in between Endgame and Spider-Man: Far From Home.

So, there you have it - the definitive chronological order in which to watch the Marvel Cinematic Universe movies. We know what we'll be binging this summer...
