The Marvel Cinematic Universe is one sprawling, 23-film (and counting) saga. One of the most fun film adventures you can take is working your way through all of them - but it can be hard to know what order to watch them in. That's why we're here to give you the lowdown on how to watch the Marvel movies in chronological order.

While listing the Marvel movies in order, we've also included the TV series which have recently been released on Disney+ as part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The Marvel Movies In Chronological Order

Captain America: The First Avenger (2011)

Cast: Chris Evans, Hugo Weaving, Hayley Atwell, Sebastian Stan

Plot: 

Steve Rogers, a rejected military soldier, transforms into Captain America after taking a dose of a "Super-Soldier serum". But being Captain America comes at a price as he attempts to take down a war monger and a terrorist organization.

Captain Marvel (2019)

The Incredible Hulk (2008)

Plot:

Thor (2011)

The Avengers (2012)

Plot:

Earth's mightiest heroes must come together and learn to fight as a team if they are going to stop the mischievous Loki and his alien army from enslaving humanity.

Iron Man Three (2013)

Plot:

When Tony Stark's world is torn apart by a formidable terrorist called the Mandarin, he starts an odyssey of rebuilding and retribution.

Thor: The Dark World (2013)

Plot:

When the Dark Elves attempt to plunge the universe into darkness, Thor must embark on a perilous and personal journey that will reunite him with doctor Jane Foster.

Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014)

Plot:

Guardians of the Galaxy (2014)

Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015)

Plot:

When Tony Stark and Bruce Banner try to jump-start a dormant peacekeeping program called Ultron, things go horribly wrong and it's up to Earth's mightiest heroes to stop the villainous Ultron from enacting his terrible plan.

Ant-Man (2015)

Plot:

Armed with a super-suit with the astonishing ability to shrink in scale but increase in strength, cat burglar Scott Lang must embrace his inner hero and help his mentor, Dr. Hank Pym, plan and pull off a heist that will save the world.

Captain America: Civil War (2016)

Plot:

Political involvement in the Avengers' affairs causes a rift between Captain America and Iron Man.

Black Widow (2021)

Doctor Strange (2016)

Avengers: Infinity War (2018)

WandaVision (TV series, 2021)

Blends the style of classic sitcoms with the MCU, in which Wanda Maximoff and Vision - two super-powered beings living their ideal suburban lives - begin to suspect that everything is not as it seems.

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings (2021)

Plot:

Plot:

Thor enlists the help of Valkyrie, Korg and ex-girlfriend Jane Foster to fight Gorr the God Butcher, who intends to make the gods extinct.

That's all of the Marvel properties on Disney+ in order. Several MCU TV series were also released on Netflix in the early 2010s, and their timelines are a bit more muddled than what's above. You can generally watch these independently, as they rarely tie in with the larger world of the MCU.
