In terms of 2020, Normal People star Paul Mescal definitely can get satisfaction from the year that he's had.

Granted, GAA fans already knew how white his shirts can be because the Maynooth man famously donned the Kildare jersey, but an awful lot has changed since then.

As many of you know, Mescal was a talented footballer for Kildare, representing the county at U21 and minor level before pursuing a career in acting. As a player, he starred in Kildare's half back line and captained the Lilywhites throughout their minor campaign of 2014.

However, after the success of Normal People, his career has now gone stratospheric and there's no better sign of that than a collaboration with The Rolling Stones for their new video, Scarlet.

The video shows Mescal drunkenly dancing along to the track while in a video that he apparently intends to send to his unrequited lover.

As you can see, even the actor thinks that this is all just a bit mad.

To be fair, having seen Normal People and that infamous nightclub scene and the, erm, encounter that he had with his old teacher outside the chipper, the music video is our second-favourite piece of Mescal drunk acting.

Having collaborated with Dermot Kennedy a few weeks ago, we're not ruling out the Kildare man dipping his toe back into the music pond again.

In terms of Mescal's acting career, Irish fans can see him next in The Deceived, the new mystery from Derry Girls writer Lisa McGee, when it airs on Virgin Media in the autumn. He'll also be hoping for an Emmy win after his performance in Normal People was just one of four nominations that the show received.

You can check out the video below and as for the song, it's a belter.
