Hollywoods actor Jamie Lee Curtis paid a lovely Instagram tribute to outgoing Late Late Show host Ryan Tubridy.
"Hey @instatubridy YOU WILL BE MISSED! Thank you for the light you brought so many!", wrote Curtis.
However, her words were a tad ambiguous, especially for her mostly American audience who would not a have a clue who Ryan Tubridy is.
As was pointed out by Amy O'Connor on Twitter, Curtis' post brought some misguided and hilarious comments from people sympathising with her, thinking that Tubs had died:
Oh no, so sorry for his family's loss

I had to do a bit of research because I thought he passed away. But he’s just no longer hosting a late night talk show ^^; even if I’m not familiar with the series or the host, this was still a lovely tribute to his time there :)

Northern Irish comedian Patrick Kielty will be the man replacing Tubridy, and like most of the public, Tubs has also believes that he is a great choice to take over the coveted role.

“I’m really, really happy about this choice. I have to say, I said it before. I think I probably said it off air that I was very, very supportive of the suggestion that he might take over the show,” Tubridy said.

“I just think he has – what they say in the business – the chops. He can cover the heavy side of things and he’s got a background that will inform that.

“And he will also obviously do the lighter end of things with great skill because he’s a comedian and funny guy. He’s also, independent of that, a lovely fella.”
