There have been some seriously enjoyable football documentaries in recent years, and Disney+'s newest offering, Save our Squad, looks like it could be the most inspiring yet.

Save our Squad is a four-part docuseries, with all episodes dropping on Wednesday November 9th. The series follows footballing legend David Beckham as he returns to his childhood home in East London and attempts to turn around a youth team's fortunes as they face relegation.

The first trailer for Save our Squad has dropped, and it looks like it will be an emotional watch.

'Save Our Squad': Inspiring new David Beckham series coming to Disney+

Manchester United legend David Beckham began his football career in his home of East London. The former England captain joined United as a schoolboy at just 16 - but prior to that, he played his way through the ranks as a youth player in London.

As part of the new Disney+ series Save our Squad, Beckham has decided to return home to the grassroots football league where his journey began. He has been tasked with aiding the struggling Westwood Boys team, as a poor run of form has them staring at relegation.

The inspiring new trailer for Save our Squad shows the struggles that these players are facing, not only on the pitch, but with their confidence levels, and issues at home. There is talent in the team but they are struggling to gel, and they hope that the influence of David Beckham's wisdom and "never-say-die" attitude can make the difference, and bring them to success.

Beckham understands the struggles that this team are going through - during the trailer, he confides in one of the players that he was always picked last for teams when he was a kid, due to his height. The team are visibly blown away by Beckham's presence and honesty - and they are able to share a few laughs together at the former England captain's expense.

Save our Squad looks like it will be an emotional and uplifting watch, with the docuseries showing the power of sport to change people's lives - and the power of people to change each other. It turns the focus on one of football's greatest ever stars away from the glitz and glamour of his fame, and back to where his journey began decades ago.
