Mare of Easttown wraps its first season on Sunday night. The show has been 30% fun, 60% misery and 10% vaping, which it turns out is an equation for great television. We are still none the wiser about the killer of Erin McMenamin, but we seem to be heading for some answers this weekend.

Stephen King is a man who knows a few things about suspense and storytelling. So it was interesting to see the man behind It and Misery use his very active Twitter account to reveal his thoughts on who the killer of Erin is.

Very interesting indeed. So, in King's eyes, it's neither of the two likely suspects, John or Billy. While one of the two men is surely the father of Erin's child, King feels that someone else entirely is behind her death.

This is fascinating because, if King is right, the door is open to a number of fringe suspects.  Two of the leading candidates live with John: firstly, his wife Lori and secondly, his son Ryan. Lori is the main suspect for many internet sleuths if we presume that her husband is the father of DJ. But as one redditor commented, surely Lori would just kill John if she was out for revenge about his incestuous lovechild. Young Ryan seems to be carrying some heavy secrets on his shoulders, and some burning anger, but we're unsure how he would have managed to kill someone and dispose of a body without the help of others.

This also opens the door to Guy Pearse's character Richard being the killer. Internet sleuths believe that Richard is guilty because he's played by Pearse, who's portrayed many psychos over the years. On the night in question, however, he was shifting Mare.

We have no time for your Siobhan theories.
