"Sampling and rating pints of #Guinness".

That's the humble caption of @pints_of_plain in their Instagram bio. Since January of 2019, they've been helping us find great pints of the black stuff.

With the account almost 100 pints deep, there have been reviews in a range of places from Cheltenham to Copper Face Jacks.

As time progressed, it was going to be inevitable that Pints of Plain was going to head up to Crumlin and do the lord's work for us.

Conor McGregor's 'The Black Forge Inn' opened on Monday the 26th of July. McGregor had teased the opening over on his socials in the weeks prior.

It looks well furnished and laid out in the promo video for the refurbished pub. The former UFC Champion has put a good amount of his hard earned cash into the place.

We can all experience places like The Black Forge Inn for ourselves, but why not have someone on Instagram do it for us first?

"With a plush new interior and snazzy staff uniforms, the bar is a far cry from the dingy local it used to be," said Pints of Plain.

Every review usually comes in a humorous tone and with a few jibes here or there. Most notably the review here focused in on the clientele on offer.

"I noticed a young man engaged in a heated debate with the bouncer over the authenticity of his vaccine cert," Plain said.

"The "cert" appeared to be handwritten in crayon on a sheet of A4 paper and read "Astroidzenaca pint pass"." It might have happened.

After a quick homage to Conor's Dad Tony and his 'coinage', Pints of Plain got knees deep into the pint of the black stuff he set out to sample.

"I wasn't expecting much from the pint, which started out strong but gassed out quickly, before finally tapping out in the 4th round."

It's clear Pints of Plain had put quite a lot of thought and wit into these jokes. Maybe some of these were forged drinking the black in the pub itself. Sorry not sorry.

They gave the pint a 7 out of 10, which was a respectable score for a seasoned critic. Places like Dicey's and Dublin Airport had scores of 1 or less for comparison.

"It's evident that The Forge's primary focus is on cocktails & food," the Instagram pint drinker said. The Black Forge Inn currently has a 4.7 out of 5 review on OpenTable.
