In the wake of today's All-Ireland ladies final Hawkeye was the main talking point rather than Cork's sixth All Ireland title in a row.

Cork managed to triumph today by a solitary point over Dublin, by 1-7 to 1-6, at the end of a pulsating clash in the All-Ireland ladies football final at Croke Park.

However the reaction to the game has largely focussed on the main controversy of the match - a disallowed first half point by Dublin's Carla Rowe that was wrongly waved wide by umpires.

It is a pity that focus is on the decision of an official at the end of what was really a terrifically tense and exciting game of football, but questions were being raised as to whether we now face a replay in the aftermath of what Dublin fans may feel is an injustice.

There was no Hawkeye in the ladies' final because of the complications that playing with a size 4 ball would have presented - it would have required recalibration of the Hawkeye system. This excuse didn't temper the negative reaction on Twitter.

The game was very delicately poised before the game, with Cork going for six All-Ireland titles in a row and Dublin trying to win their first since 2010.

The debate over the proper victors will rage on, but in reality the chances of a replay are slim.
