Some absolutely brilliant official footage of the Wings for Life World Run - the Irish leg of which took place in Dun Laoghaire on Sunday - has been released by Red Bull.

The globetrotting event is totally different to any race you’d be familiar with – uniting some of the world’s professional and amateur runners alike in a bid to outpace the moving finishing line, which comes in the shape of the 'Honda Catcher Car.' The car takes off 30 minutes after the start at 15km/h and steadily increases its speed until all runners have been caught. Gas.

Sportspeople and celebrities have rallied worldwide, signing up for the global race in aid of spinal cord injury research.

Irish runners on Sunday included Simon Zebo (Munster & Ireland rugby), Bernard Brogan (Dublin footballer), Joe Canning (Galway hurler), Eoin Larkin (Kilkenny hurler), Alan Brogan (Dublin footballer), Con Doherty (Irish triathlete), Annalise Murphy (Irish sailor), Alison Canavan (model), Keith Walsh (RTE 2fm Breakfast Republic) and a host of other celebrities and politicians. Fair play to everyone who ran for such a fantastic cause.
