Didi Hamann Gets Lovely Dig In At Jason McAteer While Analysing Liverpool Transfers

The last time we put Didi Hamann and Jason McAteer in the same sentence, it was because Jenna Jameson had followed the former Ireland international on Twitter and he got very excited about it.

This isn't quite as funny as that but it's still not bad. Given that he actually watches the Bundesliga, the Liverpool Echo decided to ask Didi Hamann about former Hoffenheim star, Roberto Firmino. The German, along with most Liverpool fans was very positive about what the Brazilian can bring to Anfield.

He's Brazilian but he has played in Germany for a number of years and I've been impressed by how he has developed. I've spoken to people who have worked with him and they say he won't be bullied. He has got more of a European than a Brazilian mentality.

He is very skilful but he also has the strength and the mentality to survive in the Premier League.

Good news for Liverpool fans then. Not only did Hamann discuss the various assets of Firmino's game but he also analysed the business Liverpool have done so far (and will do in near future).

The impending departure of Raheem Sterling and the arrival of Firmino is the greatest bit of business that Liverpool have done in a long time. However, there's still a lot to be done if they're to surpass the kind of business they did back in 1999.

If Liverpool get £50million for Sterling and invest half that money in Firmino the club will have made their best business in a long time – probably the best bit of business since Liverpool managed to sell Jason McAteer to Blackburn for £4million!

Nicely done.
