Jessica McCaskill came out all guns blazing at the start of the seventh round in her WBA lightweight title fight against Katie Taylor on Wednesday night.
At that stage of the fight, McCaskill undoubtedly knew that she would require a knockout to defeat Taylor.
When McCaskill turned up the heat, it did not bother the Bray fighter. Instead, she beckoned the American to bring it on.
Taylor told The42.ie's Gavan Casey after the fight that she "can't actually repeat what I was saying to her".
McCaskill did win the seventh round handily, partially due to Taylor having a point deducted by referee Howard Foster for holding.
In the build-up, McCaskill was the busier with her words. Prior to the fight being scheduled, the 33-year-old had accused Taylor of dodging her as an opponent. Considering that Taylor's pro career is just a year old, it was a nonsense accusation.
Still, Taylor's manager Brian Peters joked that if McCaskill fought as good as she talked, his fighter might be in trouble. Though she had plenty of heart and energy, it was clear the Irish boxer was the more skilled in the ring.
As McCaskill sat in her corner, awaiting the bell for the tenth round, her trainer told her that she needed a knockout, saying, "Hit her with a fucking missile, so we can go home."
Unlike in the sixth round, when Taylor was hit with a heavy counterpunch, that missile did not look like coming. Though, Taylor did egg McCaskill on to do so.
