Charly Musonda is apparently one of the most in-demand players of this January window according to new boss Brendan Rodgers.

The 21-year-old midfielder is has joined the Hoops on an 18 month loan after Rodgers claimed that the club had beaten all of 24 other interested parties to sign the Belgian attacker.

Rodgers spoke to the Scotsman about the arrival of the youngster:

It is subject to the medical, but he is a really excited prospect. It's a great opportunity for him to show his talents. He has wonderful ability and is very dynamic. He'll bring creativity to our side Twenty-four clubs were in for Charly so it is a great coup for us. He is one of the shining lights in the Chelsea academy.

While it's hard to gauge what constitutes a genuine interest in a player, the Antrim man may be just putting a bit of classic Rodgers spin on the coup.

Rodgers worked for Chelsea in their underage setup from 2004 to 2008 and that link may have been crucial in Celtic clinching   the deal.

Musonda joined the Blues in 2012 from Anderlecht along with older brothers Tika and Lamisha, and signed a contract extension in March 2015.
