A doughty septuagenarian could be back on the jobs market in a month's time if Manchester City win the Champions League.

Eamon Dunphy, ardently supportive of Atletico Madrid and a devoted admirer of their manager Diego Simeone, has said he will 'get a proper job' if Atleti's antithesis, Manchester City, win the European Cup.

He has long regarded City as a bunch of 'well-paid men filling shirts' - as Tom Humphries once described United in Roy Keane's absence.

Notwithstanding his admiration, he expressed mixed feelings at the thought of Atletico Madrid winning the thing out, saying he also hankered for the beauty of a Barcelona at their best. Joanne suggested that if you're going to get sniffy about Atletico winning, you might as well hope for the team with most money to win it. Brady and Dunphy chimed in that the financially flush outfits don't often create teams of great beauty, citing Chelsea and Man City.

If City do get the job done and Dunphy makes good on his promise, then his future is highly uncertain.
