Referee's chief Willie Barrett is confident that Bernard Brogan's contentious point, the third of the match, was definitely a score.

Debate raged about the decision, with many people squinting at gifs and replays for ages trying to get a sense of whether it was a point.

Barrett confirmed that if an umpire gets a decision wrong, hawkeye will alert the referee, urging him to review the decision. Giving fairly definitive proof that the ball did, despite how it may have looked, go over the bar.

If an umpire gets a decision wrong on a point or a wide and hawkeye isn't called for, hawkeye will call the referee and tell him he needs to review this decision.

Every point or wide is verified above in the hawkeye box. The minute the umpire makes a decision, it is verified.

Forget about hawkeye, the quickest man off the mark when it comes to challenging scores (even patently legitimate ones) is the goalkeeper and Robbie Hennelly was not inclined to protest.

If one examines the two gifs closely, it is clear that those who argue the shot was wide are ignoring both how low the ball was when the crossed the threshold of the crossbar and where it landed behind the goal.
