This was to be expected. Ireland were edged out by a point in Paris this afternoon in what was probably the worst performance of the Joe Schmidt-era.
Not only were Ireland held tryless and scoreless in the second half, but there was also an uncharacteristically high error count.
We identified a few areas where we thought the team could improve - chiefly at outside centre and Rory Best's captaincy performance.
Naturally, George Hook pounced on the Irish team but focused the brunt of his dissatisfaction on Schmidt's performance.
Hook has been a frequent critic of the New Zealander's tactics and the defeat today left the pundit fuming, as he blasted Schmidt in a livestream with the Irish Independent.
"It is the worst game plan I have ever seen. I have doubts about this coach and always have. The question must now be asked – are the Irish public prepared to put up with watching rugby like that?"
By 'doubts' he is presumably referring to when Hook called for Schmidt to resign after three Pro12 games during his first season with Leinster. Hook might be the most over-the-top critic of Ireland at the moment but after today's dismal display against France, he will be joined by a few others.
After such an ineffective attacking performance, the call for Stuart McCloskey's inclusion will grow even louder.
