Norwich native and WWE Superstar Paige made a huge splash upon her WWE debut, winning the then-named "Diva's Title" on her very first night in the company. She even has a movie coming out later this year about her life, executive produced by The Rock and starring Vince Vaughn.

However it appears having just made her big in-ring comeback following a tumultuous year of injuries and scandals, Paige's in-ring wrestling career may be over.

Paige returned to the ring back in November after a long lay off caused by neck injuries, she had three screws inserted in her neck in October 2016 while suspended under WWE’s wellness policy, but was re-injured in a tag team match on December 27th when she was kicked in the back by Sasha Banks.

The recently returned wrestler went down hard after the kick was delivered, she then attempted to get back up but was unsuccessful and clearly in distress, the match was then abandoned.

The injury wasn't initially thought to be that serious and WWE even booked Paige to take part in the first ever Women's Royal Rumble match, which is due to take place on January 28th in Philadelphia.

However, according to wrestling news website PWInsider, Paige was given the news before this week's Monday Night Raw that she would not be cleared to return to the ring. The situation has been described as being the same as what led to the retirement of WWE Hall of Famer, Edge back in 2011.

It's been a trying few months for the first ever NXT Women's champion - real name Saraya-Jade Bevis - who, as mentioned above, has only just returned from a long lay off which was also plagued by personal problems. She is also still only 25 years old which is a tremendously sad age to have to call time on a career.

WWE however clearly sees a huge upside in Paige who has already starred in WWE Studios Movie "Santa's Little Helper", is a main fixture of the reality show "Total Divas" and of course has her autobiographical movie due to be released in September.

While no official announcement on the forced retirement has been made yet, it is expected she will announce it herself this Monday on RAW with an in-ring promo.
