Jamie Carragher Delivers Some Home Truths For Liverpool Fans On MNF
It was Darren Fletcher and Jamie Carragher in the Sky Sports studio for Monday Night Football this evening, as the pair took a scalpel to the weekend's Premier League action.
Liverpool's draw with Arsenal was discussed during the build up to Huddersfield's game against Fulham and Carragher delivered a pragmatic point about supporters complaining about the dropped points:
I think Liverpool supporters, meself included obviously, they've got to just relax a little bit. You'd think Liverpool had lost the league after the game at the weekend because 'oh it's two points dropped, Man City are gone two points clear', there's a long way to go. Man City are better than Liverpool, everyone knows that. That doesn't mean that Liverpool can't win the league.
Some home truths for Red's supporters, but it wasn't all doom and gloom from Carragher, as the Sky Sports pundit went on to explain the circumstances that need to happen in order for Liverpool to have a chance of overhauling Man City in the race for the Premier League:
I think Liverpool's hope of winning the league is in the second half of the season if City go far in the Champions League and the whole club focuses on the Champions League and takes their eye off the ball slightly.
That's the only chance Liverpool have got, because City are better than them.
Finishing his point, Carragher praised his former team for their brilliant start to the season and said that the fact that Arsenal were so delighted with a 1-1 draw at the Emirates shows how fare Jurgen Klopp's side have come.
