My girlfriend was out with some friends at Mother in Dublin on Saturday and described an interesting (and entirely unlikely one month ago) dance style favoured by some lesbian women in attendance. Apparently, a few were dancing in a sort of shadowboxing style, throwing jabs and hooks, that was clearly an homage to Katie Taylor. Here was the Katie Taylor effect in action in a somewhat unlikely context.

We've heard the media go on and on about Taylor's work ethic make her an inspiration for all kinds of Irish people. (I'm sure it's true, I'm just tired of hearing of about it). I don't have a whole lot of empirical evidence, but I have a strong hunch that lesbian women in Ireland have also adopted Taylor as a heroine. I'm not exactly sure what the people who run Taylor's Pentacostal church would say, but I'm doubt Taylor would be offended by the affection.
