Jessic Ennis-Hill has today announced her retirement from athletics following a glittering career in the heptathlon for Britain.

Ennis-Hill, then just Ennis, won gold for her country at the London Olympics in 2012, and hinted at retirement following silver in Rio this summer.

Retirement means she will not return to the stadium where she won Olympic gold for the 2017 World Championships in London in August 2017, but she departs her field as one of Britain's greatest ever sportspeople.
