While Andy Lee has deservedly received great acclaim for his world title win last night, on the other side of the world another Irish fighter had reason to celebrate to. Kildare native Dennis Hogan was awarded Australian Champion of Year, rounding off an amazing 16 months since he returned from a career threatening injury.

Hogan suffered a horrible in neck injury in late 2012 but returned after nine months of rehabilitation and has gone on to become Australian Middleweight champion and the WBA Oceania champion.

Last night he was given the much-deserved award and will now be hoping for even bigger and better things in 2015, where he'll hopefully add to his 21-0 professional record.
