Watch: Anthony Joshua Dusts A Hapless Charles Martin To Claim IBF World Title

Outmatched. Outfought. Outclassed.

The fact that Charles Martin ever held a version of the world championship might offer some pause for thought to ardent boxing fans, but it didn't matter a jot to potential heavyweight saviour Anthony Joshua or his screaming fans as he showed the St. Louis man "levels" on Saturday night.

Two rounds was all it took for the belt to change hands, and Martin - like a deer in headlights - scarcely landed a shot as the Watford heavy blasted him halfway back across the Atlantic with surgeon's precision.

Sky Sports News might be guilty of some selective historical negligence with their declaration that Joshua has become heavyweight champ faster than Mike Tyson or Muhammad Ali (wouldn't be like them to blow something out of proportion, would it?), but take nothing away from Joshua - the 26-year-old will be a global sporting superstar provided he continues to up the ante as his career progresses.

His nonchalant shrug after the second knockdown will testify to that, as will his grounded post-fight interview, in which he immediately acknowledged that he's "just a quarter of the way there" when the interviewer referred to him as "the heavyweight champion of the world."

The guy is impossible not to like, even for a so-called boxing traditionalist.

You can't fault Martin either, in truth; the 29-year-old was probably as shocked as anyone to get his hands on a belt. He called Joshua out and earned himself close to £2.5m for his troubles. But if the dethroned southpaw was predictably found wanting at a higher level, surely not even Sky is the limit for his conqueror.
