Andrea Dossena Speaks About Harrods Arrest And Being 'Treated Like A Terrorist'
By Robbie Dunne

Andrea Dossena was arrested recently on suspicion of shoplifting and was detained along with his wife before charges were eventually dropped for the former Liverpool full-back.

The 33 year old was arrested for the most innocuous of incidents as he explains in an effort to clear up the whole situation

When we got to the checkout and paid, I didn’t notice that there was also a pack of dried beef and a jar of honey in our bag. I don’t know how it happened, I’ve no idea.

But he clearly isn't happy with how the police treated him and his family despite their pleas of innocence.

They asked to see our documents that prove our status as residents of London, and obviously I didn’t have them with me. So then they took us to the police station, where they held us until half past ten at night, despite the needs of a two-and-half-year-old child. It’s absurd to treat a child this way.

We were put in handcuffs, like you’d do with a terrorist in certain cases. I was obviously in disbelief, not only because of that gesture but because I didn’t know what was going on – I hadn’t realised the mistake we’d made.

The Italian plans to take legal action over the severity of how they were treated and the lack of respect that was offered to him and his family.

Good news that he was let go but we think he should have been arrested a long time ago for stealing a living!
