Balls In The Shop Window: Today’s Transfer Rumours Round-up

With the World Cup well and truly behind us, the rumour mill takes centre stage for the next month or so. Here’s the latest on what’s being going around this morning on the transfer front.

Done Deals

Lazar Markovic to Liverpool, £20m

The 20-year-old has arrived in Liverpool for a medical and will join the Reds from Benfica as Brendan Rodger’s fourth summer signing. The Serbian international said goodbye to his Portuguese fans via Facebook on Sunday. He had previously been a target of Chelsea and has reportedly requested the number 50 shirt.

Rio Ferdinand to QPR, free (likely)

The 35-year-old is set to be unveiled today at Loftus Road after being released from Manchester United last month. Ferdinand will team up again with Harry Redknapp, who gave Ferdinand his professional debut at West Ham in 1996. Rio had agreed a deal in with the Rs in June, but the deal was almost derailed by a disagreement over personal terms.

In addition to Ferdinand the elder, Harry has acquired the services of Icelandic international Kolbeinnn Sigthorsson from Ajax for €6 million. (£4.78 million). He has notched an impressive 15 goals in 23 international appearances so far.

Marco Reus to Liverpool?

The Daily Express have said that Liverpool are looking to capitalise on Barcelona’s decision to sign Suárez instead of the 25-year-old Dortmund star. Reus has already turned down a move to Old Trafford in anticipation to a move to Old Trafford, so a £44 million Anfield move could be a real possibility.

In addition to Reus, the Reds have also been linked with Arda Turan, Wilfried Bony and Romelu Lukaku.

Khedira to Arsenal founders over money demands

It seems that Sami Khedira won’t be joining Alexis Sánchez in making a move to North London. The Mirror have reported that the World Cup winner had demanded £150,000 a week before bonuses, which would have made him the Gunners’ highest-paid player.

According to the same paper, the club are expected to finalise the signings of Newcastle’s Mathieu Debuchy and another right back, Javier Manquillo of Atlético Madrid. The Mail, meanwhile, have said that the Gunners are stepping up their interest in 19-year-old Southampton fullback Calum Chambers.

Alberto Moreno from Sevilla to Liverpool?

Rojiblanco boss Unai Emery has admitted that left back Moreno (22) could finally go to Anfield after the deal foundered earler in the summer. Emery has also spoken of his admiration for Iago Aspas, who is free to leave Anfield.
