Eric Dier's opening goal for England against Russia was a superb strike.

It was a goal made in Tottenham. Dele Alli was fouled on the edge of the box, Harry Kane dummied to take the kick and then Dier powered the ball past Igor Akinfeev.

On commentary for ITV, Clive Tyldesley declared that the Spurs midfielder had smashed down the Russia door which had stood firm throughout. Of course, he did not foresee Vasili Berezutski's late equaliser.

As the ball returned to the centre circle for the restart, Tyldesley just couldn't help himself. He had to indulge himself to an excessive level, proclaiming that Dier's goal was 'Justice for the England XI'.

Justice for what was not exactly clear. While they deserved to be in front, it was not a game in which they had been wronged in any way. They were simply denied by Russia stubbornness.
