Paris St Germain sporting director Leonardo described the referee as lacking "lucidity" and said the red card to Beckham was "really unfair."
It did seem a harsh decision as while Beckham was reckless in kicking out his leg, it appeared to be an attempt to protect the ball and he made little or no contact with the Evian player.
