After a difficult start to the season, Gavin Bazunu has experienced quite the uptick in form over the last few weeks.

The Irishman struggled early on in Southampton's return to the Championship, putting in some questionable performances as the team failed to meet expectations. However, their recent run of good results has coincided with the goalkeeper finding his feet once again.

They moved up to fourth in the table with a 1-0 victory over Bristol City last night, a result that was secured largely thanks to some heroics from the 21-year old.

Southampton are undefeated in the league since September, winning seven of their ten fixtures since then after last night's result.

Kyle Walker-Peters would get the decisive goal in the 1-0 victory, but many Saints fans credited the result to Gavin Bazunu due to a number of crucial interventions made by the Irishman.

Below you can see some of the remarkable saves he made over the course of the match.

That second save was absolutely stunning.

Gavin Bazunu has been a subject of ridicule at times since his arrival at Southampton, so much so that manager Russell Martin was forced to leap to his defence earlier this season.

However, many of them were blown away with his performance in this game.

This is just the latest example of the strong form displayed by Gavin Bazunu in recent weeks, which also included a top class showing in Ireland's loss to the Netherlands earlier this month.

The goalkeeper will have a big part to play if Southampton to secure an return to the Premier League at the first attempt this season, with the club currently sitting eight points off the automatic promotion places. Judging by their current form, that gap looks likely to shorten over the coming weeks and months.
